Review Day. Written and skills test next class session. Soldier Girl and I are all about business. Her brother just got deployed to Afghanistan for the second time. My dentist confirmed this week my teeth will begin to fall out in 5-10 years if I don't have surgery soon--maybe even with surgery. Our gazes turn stony when we are with our thoughts. I think I'd be safe to say we are not fucking around.
Crash told me that in the field rather than messing with the damn lubricant, we just use the patient's spit for nose tubes. He was making Lil' Doc and I laugh about an interview he had in New Orleans where the interviewer sent him to a topless bar. ("Do you like titties? Well, you take this road and turn left...")
Oxygen tanks should not be left upright to get kicked over accidentally. If they get punctured, they can go through ambulances and bulkheads. Or explode if there's an open flame nearby. One hand on at all times or lay it on its side. That was tonight's lesson after Instructor Sharp Eyes threatened to kick them over if we forgot. (The practice ones are just compressed air, not O2. Still, it won't be long before we get to InstaFails--forgetting to check for scene safety or use gloves and leaving tanks upright all qualify.)
I complimented Nails on his boots today. He offered to stick an NPA (nasopharyngeal airway--a tube) in his nose for $50. I told him I can get that and guys eating sticks of butter on YouTube for free.
I walked out of class toward the corner and someone's wallet was in the grass. I drove around looking for a police and settled for taking the thing to a BOA the next day. The teller blinked in surprise, "Oh, thank you!" Yeah, well... I didn't think anyone would take me for a 24-year-old White Guy from Alaska, the $4 really isn't enough to do anything with, and I have a library card already anyway.
