"Warring Ideals in One Dark Body"

Dear Almost-Everyone-I-Know,

As some of you have heard, I recently found out that my 17 year old son D.and I have to move from our lovely home of four years.  Because D. is starting his senior year at Berkeley High, we need to move to Berkeley proper, to avoid hassles with BUSD.  I can wait until up to Oct. 1 to move, but want to secure something this week.  I can put down a deposit immediately.

Here's what we'd like:

Bare minimum:

Berkeley address.
2 bdrm, good separation of space and privacy.
Cat OK.
Direct outdoor access.
washer - drier access.

Ideally:

House or spacious flat.
Modest side, front or back yard.
Fireplace.
Dishwasher.

I can pay up to $1800 a month, but between $1200-$1500 would be ideal.  I am a wonderful, long term tenant with excellent references and stable employment.  Please feel free to forward this to anyone who might have leads -- I can promptly send a "rental resume" via email.
